From April 20 to 26, 2021, the 21st edition of the Festival of Central and Eastern European Film will take place in Wiesbaden, but all the more online, with an extremely promising program. What appeals to me most is the “Homage to Yuri Gagarin” section, with the wonderful Laika documentary SPACE DOGS (2019) by Elsa Kremser and Levin Peter – as well as a very diverse mix of space documentaries and feature films, for example Yakov Protazanov’s silent film AELITA – QUEEN OF MARS from 1924 or Kurt Maetzig’s THE SILENT STAR (GDR 1959).
The competition is also very promising, I am most looking forward to PREPARATIONS TO BE TOGETHER FOR AN UNKNOWN PERIOD OF TIME by Lili Horvath (Hungary 2020), ONCE UPON A YOUTH by Ivan Ramljak (Croatia 2020) and YELLOW CAT by Adilkhan Yerzhanov (Kazakhstan, France 2020).
The online season ticket for € 60 should be worthwhile, but so are the single tickets for € 6.50.
