What’s your choice at CIVIC CINEMA AWARD? The cinema award is open to European films that focus on the topics of migration, integration, cultural diversity, social cohesion and democratic culture. The award is given to productions that draw attention to the essence of the immigrant society, including its strengths and difficulties, promote peaceful coexistence between people of different origins and remove the ground for argumentation from demagogic caricatures.

The CIVIS Cinema Award is a premiere award. The award is therefore given to European films that were shown publicly in German cinemas for the first time in the course of a year. The production companies must at least have a registered office in the EU or Switzerland. The prize is not endowed and goes to the producers and directors of the award-winning films.
The CIVIS CINEMA Award is an audience award. CIVIS sifts through the annual program offerings in German cinemas and selects five candidate films. Which film wins is then determined by an audience vote on the Internet.
